AS trip to Curwen Print Study Centre
AS Art students enjoyed a busy workshop day at The Curwen Print Study Centre, at Chilford Hall. The centre was established by Stanley Jones MBE, Master Printer and Director of The Curwen Studio as an educational print making charity. Students spent the day developing innovative printmaking techniques which will form part of their AS portfolio. Initially students created intaglio dry-point prints, a method where ink is pushed into marks engraved or indented into a plate and printed on a press. They then further developed the dry-points by adding monotype backgrounds. Then they rolled and painted ink onto a flat printing plate, added dry-points onto the plate and printed them through the press.
