The Perse has now moved to remote ‘e-education, continuing to deliver a broad and rich curriculum remotely as we do in school. Please see below for further details specific to each school.
Pupils can access Perse systems such as SharePoint, Email, Schoology, Microsoft Teams and Perse Research subscriptions from home by clicking this link.
Useful advice for parents/carers and pupils who are sharing devices and using SharePoint can be found here.
If parents/carers or pupils require additional support please contact the IT Department using the ictsupport@perse.co.uk email address.
Upper School:
Remote teaching and study time each day
The remote education provided will be equivalent in length to the core teaching pupils would receive in school. Pupils follow the same timetable as in school and lessons are delivered through existing school e-learning platforms. Lessons will contain a mixture of pre-prepared and live material and homework will continue to be set as per existing homework timetable. The amount of remote education provided will be in excess of 5 hours a day, taking into account lessons and homework assignments averaged across the week.
Accessing remote education
Schoology is used as the central communication point and all pupils are expected to check their accounts on a daily basis. Updates with work set, indicating the time allocation and mode and deadlines for submission, as well as any upcoming live sessions are posted on Schoology. If scheduled, live sessions take place during the times when a normal lesson would have taken place – pupils’ attendance of the live session is expected wherever feasible.
Pupils are encouraged to submit work through OneNote and extensive guidance on how to use various e-learning platforms, including Schoology and OneDrive, as well as information on how to access Prodigy Learning ICT training material, is given in the Setup and usage guide.
Engagement and feedback
We expect all pupils to engage fully with remote education as outlined in the Pupil information about remote learning (accessible by parents on Perse portal and by pupils on Sharepoint) and to complete the work set to the best of their abilities. Good communication is a key part of remote learning and it is important that all pupils respond appropriately to all communication from teachers and tutors and seek support when required. Tutors will continue to have oversight of their tutees’ education and will be the first port of call for pupils and parents, who should raise any concerns whether that relates to how pupils are feeling or how they are learning.

Prep School:
Remote teaching and study time each day
Children are following an adapted version of the Prep’s curriculum, with a bespoke timetable that combines core academic assignments with extension and enrichment activities. All learning is managed within Microsoft Teams where daily assignments are set, work is submitted and feedback is offered. In addition, live video calls can also be accessed each day through this platform (including a Form Teacher meeting; English, Maths and Science forums and Head’s Assembly). Lessons are introduced with teacher generated audio or video content. This all equates to at least four hours of learning a day, taking into account that children will work at their own pace.
Accessing remote education
If children are well enough to continue learning, they should click here and scroll to the bottom, before choosing Office 365 (OneDrive, Teams). Children will need to log in to Microsoft Teams with their normal network username (adding @perse.co.uk) and password. From there, they should click into the subjects setting assignments or hosting live video calls on that day, following the timetables that have been shared with parents.
Engagement and feedback
Children should aim to complete all assignments to the best of their ability and join all live video sessions if possible. Children should aim to submit work on the day it is set and teachers will aim to respond to this within 48 hours. Form Teachers will continue to have oversight of the children’s education and will be the first port of call for children and parents, who should raise any concerns, whether academic or pastoral in nature.
Children or parents encountering problems with home learning should contact Mr Tobias Bown, Assistant Head (Academic) via tabown@perse.co.uk in the first instance.
Pelican School:
Remote teaching and study time each day
Our remote learning provision will be delivered via our existing e-learning platform, Seesaw. Core activities to support the learning of reading, literacy and maths will be set each day, as well as additional weekly activities such as music, PE or French. Suggested timings for learning tasks or activities will be provided by the class teacher and will in total be around 3 hours per day. Our home learning grid gives more ideas.
In addition to set activities, a daily class zoom session will take place each day and class teachers will share details on how and when to join these with parents. For the most part, our zoom sessions are for pastoral purposes and a way for us to have some regular face-to-face contact. If you miss a class or whole school zoom for any reason, please do not worry, there will always be another. Whole school assemblies will also take place at 9.45am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. ‘Just for Fun’ enrichment activities will be uploaded three times a week. These are available to the whole school and are optional.
Accessing remote education
Families will receive a Home Learning code for their child’s Seesaw learning profile. Once you have downloaded the Seesaw Class app and entered your code, you will be able to access your child’s profile and activities. There are ‘How to’ videos available on the Parent Portal.
A daily post will be uploaded to the children’s profiles at 6pm with information about what the children will be learning the next day. It will also include a list of resources that may be needed for their activities.
Any questions regarding Seesaw technical issues, please contact Ms Chloe Mayes at chmayes@perse.co.uk.
Engagement and feedback
Children should aim to complete all core activities each day and teachers will give their feedback via Seesaw within 48 hours. We encourage all children to respond to suggestions for improvement, as they would in the classroom. House points, learning friend certificates and Golden Bricks continue to be awarded during remote learning.
