“By whose benefit…”:
400 Years of free places at The Perse

Date: 24 March 2022, 7.00pm
Location: Zoom (details to be circulated to attendees)

How did a cook’s son become a College Fellow? And how did a young chemist go on to win the Nobel Prize after leaving The Perse? Join David Jones, School Archivist, as he explores the 400-year history of free and assisted places at The Perse.

Enshrined in the founding documents of the School, free places have long meant that academically able students have been able to reach their potential. Through historical case studies from the 17th Century to the 20th, David will show just how these places have transformed the lives of individuals and entire communities.
