Leaving a Legacy
“I will forever be grateful to The Perse for what it did for me. If I can help make that difference happen for someone else, then Perse pupils of the future will in turn enrich another generation and ensure the true legacy of the School’s founder lives on.”
– Arthur Brookes (1970)
Starting with the founding bequest by Dr Perse in 1615, The Perse has benefitted from the generosity of many OPs and friends who have remembered us in their wills. Leaving a legacy to The Perse is one of the most powerful ways in which you can help future generations benefit from all the opportunities of a Perse education, no matter what their circumstances. Legacies have always been of great importance to the School. Over the past few years we have been very fortunate to receive several generous bequests allowing us to boost our Bursary Fund, which would not have been possible otherwise. These funds have opened up doors to a Perse education for children from families who otherwise would not have been able to afford it.
Money left to The Perse (registered Charity no. 1120654) is also exempt from inheritance tax and may help reduce the overall amount tax that must be paid on your estate.
Changes made to the UK Inheritance Tax law 2012 could benefit your primary beneficiaries: by leaving 10% or more of your estate to charity, the inheritance tax payable on your net estate reduces from 40% to 36%.
