Professor Andrew Wilson is a Professor of the Archaeology of the Roman Empire at the University of Oxford, and Co-Director of the Oxford Roman Economy Project.
After obtaining a Classics degree from Oxford, Professor Wilson spent a short time working as a consultant in an electronics firm before returning to Oxford to study for a PhD.
In 1996 he became a fellow of Magdalen College, Oxford. He held various fellowship and professorships at the University before being appointed Director of the Oxford Institute of Archaeology in 2009. In 2013 he was elected as Head of the School of Archaeology at the University.
Professor Wilson’s research focuses on using archaeological data to address questions about ancient society, technology and economy.
