Beyond the Classroom
Prep children create lifelong memories with a vibrant range of different opportunities to enjoy outside the classroom including first-rate sport, clubs, music, art, drama and outdoor pursuits.
Sport is a major part of a Prep education and all children compete, whether in House matches or against other schools. We believe strongly that every child benefits from an emphasis on team sports at this age, developing an understanding of each other as well as focusing on honing individual skills. With a staff:pupil ratio of 1:9 and expert coaches on hand, the children make rapid progress and the School competes very successfully in a competitive local environment.
We encourage all pupils to make the most of our extra-curricular provision. There is a wide range of more than 80 lunchtime and after-school clubs to choose from. Only a handful of these clubs incur a charge which means that children are usually able to stay at school until 4.30pm with no extra charges.
We relish every opportunity to allow the children to shine with the creative arts; there is no substitute for the friendships made and skills learned working together in an ensemble or company to create and stage a concert or production.
Every child performs in our major events; in addition we run more than 30 musical groups, including chamber ensembles, choirs and orchestras. Around half our pupils take an ABRSM or Trinity exam each year.
