The Perse School

Looking to the future

Investing and evolving

The Perse is a forward-looking institution – the roots of our success lie in our willingness and ability to evolve.

Our recent increase in pupil numbers is complete. This does not, however, mean that we are resting on our laurels.

In the last decade we have invested around £40million in new facilities.  In 2014 three new science laboratories, an art studio and a graphic design room were created at the Upper, along with more space for Philosophy and RS. Students also moved into the new ‘South Building’, with its 17 classrooms and 240m2 flexible loft space. At the Prep, the hall was made lighter, brighter and more spacious and in 2017 we opened our new Prep Science Centre, ICT area and enhanced Dining Hall.  We improved and increased the Nursery and Reception outside spaces at the Pelican with new educational and play features and planting.

In 2014 we secured 26 acres of green space at Little Abington. This site, just 15 minutes away from our schools, has boosted our existing open space, taking the overall Perse campus to 63 acres – equivalent to the size of St James’s Park. It offers football, cricket and rugby  pitches and a pavilion. At the Upper, we completed a second all-weather pitch with floodlights.

In the autumn of 2017 we opened the new Classics wing at the Upper and during the spring of 2018 we moved into our new Peter Hall Performing Arts Centre complete with a 370 seat auditorium, rehearsal and exhibition spaces and a pupil café.

As well as further improvements to our facilities, we have plans to double our bursaries and extend our outreach programme.  The latter sees Perse staff and pupils working with children in local primary schools and further afield as part of our Christel House partnership.
