While The Perse’s academic credentials are well-established, prospective students and their parents can be surprised to discover the exciting extra-curricular opportunities also on offer.
Students choose from many options in art, music, drama, dance, sport, outdoor pursuits and a vibrant programme of clubs and societies. Whether they are cultivating a particular talent and competing against the best or simply taking part for fun, the activities that pupils enjoy beyond the classroom help create the buzz of daily life in the Sixth Form.
Through their involvement in extra-curricular activities, students become more rounded and gain a sense of perspective about their academic studies. Helping students develop ‘breadth and balance’ is one of the Perse Values, and we encourage them to take full advantage of the opportunities available, get involved and make commitments. Quality time spent on the pitch, stage, trail and in the studio helps students develop self-confidence, organisation and resilience and, more often than not, interests for life.
We currently offer more than 100 clubs and societies, economics and debating, to drama and dance, from golf to climbing, and even rocketry. That is in addition to 70+ music ensembles and more than 150 sports teams. We take full advantage of our Cambridge location: our 42 society programme of lunchtime lectures from leading experts in academia, the arts and the business world would rival the speaker programmes of many universities.
Students can choose from a wide range of exchanges, including language exchanges in Germany, France and Spain, and cultural exchanges in Australia, Japan, Singapore and the USA.
One of our most popular extra-curricular options is the Perse Exploration Society: more than 400 students enjoy the many forms its adventures take with expeditions both in the UK and overseas.
