The Perse School

A warm welcome awaits

One of the key entry points to The Perse is in the Lower Sixth. In this year group there are up to 40 places available for external candidates who will join pupils progressing from Year 11.

We encourage you to visit the School before applying. We hold a dedicated sixth form open evening in November and afternoon tours most weeks during term term, so that you can get a feel for The Perse on a normal working day.

Once you have decided that The Perse Sixth Form is right for your son or daughter, the next step is to apply for a place before the registration deadline (normally in mid November of the year before entry). We will seek a confidential reference from the student’s current school, and invite them into The Perse for their entrance examination and interview.

We have a small number of scholarships available in the Sixth Form to students of exceptional merit. These financial awards are normally worth 5% of the annual school fees.

We offer means-tested financial assistance with fees to those families who could not otherwise afford a Perse education. The level of assistance varies in value from 5% to 100% of annual fees, and is dependent on the financial circumstances of the parents.

Early November

Sixth Form Opening Evening is a great opportunity to meet sixth form staff, discuss subject choices and get a feel for life as a sixth former at The Perse.

Mid November

The deadline for applying for a place falls in mid November in the year prior to entry. We will ask you to submit your son or daughter's recent school reports and seek a reference from his or her current school.

End November/ beginning December

Entrance Test Day and scholarship assessments normally fall at the end of November or beginning of December. Applicants will sit papers of a reasoning/ thinking skills style and have an interview with a member of the teaching staff.

Offers are usually made before Christmas, and you will be asked to accept a place during January (subject to GCSE results in August).

We hold an induction day in July, and set summer work for students.

Students contact us with their GCSE results so that we can confirm their place.

A second induction session just before term starts helps students sort out a few practicalities.
