Music
The Perse Music curriculum aims to develop pupils’ skills and appreciation of a variety of musical styles. The emphasis, particularly at Key Stage 3 is on practical musicianship, whether that be using keyboards, music software, classroom instruments or singing. As well as a large number of classroom percussion instruments and electronic keyboards, we have two suites of networked computers running Cubase and Sibelius 6 software. The curriculum is delivered to all pupils in Years 7 and 8 and many pupils opt to continue their music tuition in Year 9 and also for GCSE and the Sixth Form.
We want to be a department that is brimming with musical energy and enthusiasm and hope that this is conveyed by the hundreds of pupils who take part in a regular activity. For anyone who has a special interest in music, we would be delighted to share this with you and arrange a meeting with the Director of Music (Mr Gavin Richards) prior to the formal entrance process. We can also answer questions by email (music@perse.co.uk) and our administrator, Miss Alice Boagey, is available by telephone on 01223 403831.
