German
What will your child study?
Pupils can start German from Year 8 (half the year group does German, the other half studies Spanish). The broad topic areas covered are: Personal Identification; School; Family and Friends; Free Time; Home Life; Town and Country. By the end of Year 8, pupils will also have covered grammar points on word order, gender and case systems, and the present and perfect tenses.
How will they be assessed?
Regular vocabulary tests are an important part of the assessment process. In addition, short written tests take place throughout the year. Each term there is a longer written test and a summative examination in the Summer Term.
