Trips and exchanges

We believe in the importance of bringing a language to life by spending time in a country in which it is spoken.

One of the most enriching experiences in our pupils’ study of German is the opportunity to visit Germany on a school trip.  In the Lower School we offer pupils the chance to go to the Cologne Christmas markets.  Whilst their linguistic level at this stage is in its infancy, pupils still gain an immense amount from absorbing the unique atmosphere of Germany at Christmas.

In the Middle School pupils can take part in the German exchange to Hamburg.  This is excellent preparation for the IGCSE examination, but in addition total immersion in the German culture will allow pupils to establish lasting friendships and take away positive memories of their stay.

During their time in the Sixth Form we take students to Berlin for a study tour.  This tour is open to those studying German and/or History at AS/A2 level.
