History
The principal aim of the History department is to encourage interest in, and enjoyment of, the past. The department intends that pupils will be stimulated by the teaching they receive, that they will be encouraged to widen their historical knowledge and that they will acquire knowledge and skills which will serve them not only in this subject but in other subjects and as citizens.
The department believes that this can be attained by encouraging pupils to think for themselves about the importance of the past, to read and research on their own initiative and to gain as wide an historical experience as possible. With this in mind, a programme of tours, society meetings and other opportunities is available for pupils.
