University entrants

We are delighted by the numbers of Perse students who go on to study Geography at university. In recent years approximately one-third of students who have studied Geography at A level have taken the subject at degree level. We also have a strong history of Oxbridge entrance for Geography, with three students gaining places in 2011.

We aim to support and extend all pupils who wish to apply for Geography at university through a range of specially arranged activities including mock interviews, seminars, lectures and study-day visits.

 Competitions

The department enters a team of Year 9 and Year 10 pupils into the Geographical Association’s Worldwize Quiz where they compete against students from other local schools. We are delighted that Perse teams have retained the winner’s trophy for the past three years.

Within the department we run an annual Geography Photography Competition for all students to enter. The winners display can be found at the back of one of the Geography classrooms, including images from the local area as well as from more exotic locations overseas.
