Geography
“As I travel the world I find myself asking questions that only geographers can answer, and I feel I owe a great debt to all those who’ve taught me to appreciate what geography has become for me, a sense of wonder fused with the hard truths of science.” Michael Palin
The Geography department at The Perse is composed of teachers who are genuinely excited about their subject and committed to using pioneering methods and contemporary material to bring Geography to life for all our pupils.
In studying Geography, pupils investigate the links between people and their environment on both local and international scales. The subject encompasses the natural processes that shape the planet, the cultural diversity of its inhabitants, and issues of environment and development.
We seek to engage pupils in learning Geography by encouraging them to work and think independently and by ensuring our teaching is stimulating, varied and creative. In addition, we strongly believe that fieldwork is an essential component of the subject and pupils have an opportunity to take part in a fieldwork activity in almost every year at The Perse.
