English and Drama
Exam results
Below is a table of the English and Drama department’s most recent results in English, English Literature and Drama respectively.
English

Drama
GCSE Drama was offered for the first time at The Perse in 2011. We will therefore publish our first set of results in September 2012.
University entrants
Students routinely go on to study English, Drama and related subjects at a range of top universities (including Oxford and Cambridge – for entry to which we offer an extensive programme of support) and go on to pursue successful careers in a range of professions associated with our subject areas.
Competitions
Pupils from The Perse have won awards and prizes in the following recent competitions:
- The Christopher Tower poetry competition
- Foyle Young Poets of the Year
- The Times Spelling Bee
- English-Speaking Union debating
- Debating Matters
- Rotary ‘Youth Speaks’
Other successes
Pupils have also contributed articles to national newspapers, have been admitted to the National Youth Theatre and have appeared in professional stage, television and film productions. Our in-house Drama productions have been staged in a variety of locations around the school site and also at Cambridge Arts Theatre, The Junction and Corpus Playroom (Cambridge) and Old St. Paul’s (Edinburgh).
