Chemistry
What will your child study?
We teach the IGCSE (Edexcel) Chemistry course for Years 9 to 11. This is a rigorous course that prepares pupils very well for A level courses. In the Middle School pupils study the Edexcel IGCSE specification. This academically rigorous course enables students to deepen their understanding of the technological world in which they live and to take an informed interest in science and scientific developments. We believe it strikes the right balance between traditional and contemporary chemistry whilst being rigorous, challenging and providing an excellent platform for A level studies. Pupils take both written exams in the summer of Year 11. There is no coursework. Pupils learn the basic principles of chemistry through a mix of theoretical and practical studies. Since we have a significant intake of new pupils in Year 9, we cover all key conceptual material from scratch.
How will they be assessed?
Pupils will be assessed during the three years through marked homework, end of topic tests and end of year exams.
