Aims and Philosophies

Perse Sport

The Perse Cricket structure is moving with the modern era of cricket. We have introduced a programme of developing and practising key skills in addition to structured and focussed nets sessions for all pupils playing cricket. There are a number of cricket coaches on the staff and we also use professional coaches from outside the school to introduce new and varied techniques.

Perse Cricket has an ethos to build competence, competitiveness, enthusiasm, good sportsmanship and teamwork. All pupils will be given coaching to enthuse and challenge them at their level.

Fixtures

CricketThere is a strong fixture list in the Summer Term and pupils play against some of the best teams in East Anglia. Year groups for pupils aged 12 to 15 have an A and B team and there are 1st, 2nd and 3rd XI for 16+. The U12 and U14 take part in the County Cups and, if these teams are successful, the following year the U13 and U15 teams play in the National rounds of their cups. The U18 play in the Cambridgeshire 'Solway' cup.

We have block fixtures against Gresham's, The Leys, Norwich, Chigwell, Culford, King's Ely, bishop's Stortford College, Bedford and Forest. We also have fixtures against schools such as Eton, Magdalen college School, Brentwood and Ipswich.

Facilities

For matches we have four excellent pitches on the school grounds and use of other nearby pitches. We also have excellent nets facilities including six lane indoor nets, six lane outdoor artificial (all-weather nets) and six lane outdoor grass nets.

Achievements

CricketThe Perse has been one of the strongest cricket schools in Cambridgeshire for a number of recent years. The U18 have won the County Cup for the last 2 years and the U12 and U14 are reigning County Champions.
