Perse pupil wins ARTiculation prize
19 March 2010
Congratulations to sixth former Lucinda Dawkins for coming third in the national finals of the annual ARTiculation prize at Clare College, Cambridge on Saturday 6 March. Lucinda won a £50 cash prize and a book on Renaissance Art signed by Anthony Gormley.
The ARTiculation Prize, run by the University of Cambridge and the Roche Court Educational Trust, is designed to give sixth-formers a taste of what studying History of Art at degree level would be like, as well as promoting their presentation and communication skills. The competition asks students to give a 10-minute presentation on a work of art, architecture or an artefact of their choice.
Heats were held in London, Salisbury and Cambridge; where Lucinda won through to the finals along with 5 other competitors.
At the final, Lucinda gave an inspirational talk about Piero della Francesca's painting 'Resurrection' to students and art historians. Renowned sculptor Anthony Gormley adjudicated and commented on Lucinda's wealth of knowledge.
