Introduction

Dr Nigel Richardson, MA

Dr Nigel RichardsonThe Upper School seeks to combine academic excellence with a wide range of extra-curricular activities and opportunities. We are part of The Perse family of schools that includes The Prep and the Pelican, offering continuity of education from 3 - 18.

The three schools have separate sites which allow them to cater for the specific needs of different age groups, whilst at the same time benefiting from the curriculum and pastoral coherence that comes from being part of a larger unit. Many parents also appreciate the practical benefits of having all their children in schools with a co-ordinated approach to term dates and major events.

We have some of the best results in the United Kingdom, and regularly feature among the top schools in the country in national league tables.

This summer the Perse had an 88% A/B grade pass rate at A level. Over 97% of all our A level entries have been awarded grades A-C in each of the last five years; typically, around 25 Sixth Formers achieve Oxbridge places each year.

Perse pupils frequently achieve national distinction as part of our extensive sports programme. Music, drama and art flourish alongside a wide range of extra-curricular activities including a Combined Cadet Force (CCF), Young Explorers Club and Community Service Scheme, and there are numerous holiday trips and exchange visits. There are currently 678 pupils including just under 90 girls.
