The school has a strong sporting tradition and a commitment to 'Sporting Excellence' and ‘Sport for All'.

The school's main sports are cricket, hockey, netball, rugby and tennis. The traditional games are an important aspect of our games programme and one that we are very proud of. From Years 7 to 9, the traditional games are compulsory and pupils are split into ability groups, where they are coached by specialists.

In Year 9 those pupils who do not make the teams in the traditional games form the Basketball Academy. This gives students the opportunity to learn and achieve in a new team sport. Opportunities to wall climb and shoot are offered throughout Year 9.

In Year 10 the traditional games and the Basketball Academy still run but rowing and squash become games options. All these sports are coached by specialists, have fixtures and are progressive right through to the Sixth Form.

Year 11 and the Sixth Form become Senior Games and students have access to an extensive games options list where sports vary from team to individual and from competitive to recreational. The department aims to find, for each student, a sport that they enjoy and would wish to pursue after leaving school. Below is a full list of sports on offer through the games or extra-curricular programme.
