Music
Whilst we run a busy programme of events within the school, we have a number of exciting external opportunities throughout the year too including performances at Emmanuel United Reformed Church, St John’s College Chapel, regional Churches and Cathedrals, the University Concert Hall at West Road and OLEM Catholic Church. In 2010, we took around 140 musicians (then one-sixth of the school) to perform in the world-class venue at St John’s, Smith Square and we intend to repeat this opportunity around Christmas 2012.
The popular and jazz side is also central to what we do and an annual ‘fixture’ is the Charity Cabaret which next takes place in February 2012. Pupils have the opportunity to perform show numbers with the Big Band or take part in boy bands/girl bands/rock bands – members of staff have been regularly seen to perform too!
