Middle School
The Middle School curriculum is broad and diverse. All pupils study the seven academic subjects listed below. Engineering Technology is a distinctive feature of the non-examined curriculum, studied by all pupils from 11 to 16, as are Philosophy and Religious Studies and PHSE.
In the Third Form, pupils chose two of the following to study alongside the core curriculum: Spanish, German, Latin, Classical Civilisation, Greek, Art, Music. We do not sit national curriculum tests (SATs).
Maths and French are setted in the Third Form, to allow flexible progression and ensure appropriate challenge for all. English is taught in sets from the Fourth Form, and lessons in the three sciences are divided by ability in the Fifth Form.
Many of our pupils take GCSEs a year early in Maths and French, and go on to study Additional Mathematics and Arabic or AS French. Additional opportunities such as fast-track Music, ICT and Japanese are also available.
A generous PE and Games provision equips all students with core sporting skills, as well as training top-class sports teams. Pupils join our Enrichment Programme in the Fifth form, opting for the CCF, Community Service or Perse Exploration Society.
