Mathematics
There are many reasons for wanting to study Mathematics.

- Mathematics helps you develop sound problem solving skills.
- It can support other subjects but can also give breadth and balance to arts or language A levels.
- Mathematics reveals hidden patterns that help us understand the world around us.
- Students with maths qualifications are highly sought-after and have good job prospects.
Available courses
We offer four different courses – to suit your interest and ability. The courses range from the equivalent of a half A level up to two A levels in Mathematics. All four courses are based on the OCR specification.
- AS level Mathematics – you will study three units in the Lower Sixth.
- A level Mathematics – you will complete a further three modules in the Upper Sixth (to give a total of six).
- AS level Further Mathematics – a total of nine modules are taken over the period of the two year course.
- A level Further Mathematics – 12 or 13 modules are studied over the course of two years.
In addition, any students applying to Oxford or Cambridge, to read Mathematics or Computer Science, will be given lessons to prepare them for Oxford entry papers or Cambridge STEP papers.
