Mathematics
AS level Mathematics
Students take exams in June of the Lower Sixth in three modules: two Pure units (Core 1 and Core 2) and an Application module (Statistics 1). You will have two teachers: one of whom will teach modules Core 1 and Core 2 whilst the other teacher will prepare you for Statistics 1.
AS level Further Mathematics
If you have a genuine interest and aptitude in mathematics but do not want to follow the full Further Mathematics course, then this course might appeal to you.
The course covers a total of nine modules, five of which are pure and the remaining four are application units. Separate teachers will cover the pure and applied modules. At the end of the Lower Sixth you will sit exams in four modules: Core 1, Core 2, Statistics 1 and Mechanics 1. In the Upper Sixth, you will complete the remaining three Pure units (Core 3, Core 4 and Further Pure 1) and two more application modules: Mechanics 2 and either Mechanics 3 or Statistics 2 (depending on the preference shown by your class). You will be entered for modules Core 3 and Mechanics 2 in January and take the remaining three modules in June.
