History
Course content and assessment
The Early Modern Course is based on 16th century English and European history:
- Essay paper on Tudor Relations with Foreign Powers 1485-1603 (2 hours – 60% of A2)
- Source-based module on The Reign of Elizabeth I 1558-1603, including the coursework element of two 2,000 word assignments (40% of A2)
This course allows a flexible combination of in-depth study and coverage of the whole late medieval and Tudor period.
The Late Modern Course is based on 19th/ 20th century British and World History:
- Essay paper on Civil Rights in the USA 1865-1992 (2 hours – 60% of A2)
- Source-based module on Russian Revolutions 1894-1924 which includes the coursework element of two 2,000 word assignments (40% of A2)
This course gives extensive coverage of key issues and turning-points in modern British, European and American history.
