Geography
Geography is a popular and successful subject at The Perse with over 60 Sixth Form students studying the subject and around a third of our students deciding each year to continue with the subject at university level. There are seven Geography teachers at The Perse, all of whom contribute to AS and A2 teaching. We are all enthusiastic professionals and keen specialist geographers. Each Sixth Form class is taught by two teachers, one for human and one for physical topics.
Geography can be combined equally well with Science, Arts or Humanities A levels. Beyond school, Geography is highly valued by universities and employers as a broad-ranging and real-world subject which exercises a wide range of skills. You will have ample opportunity to develop literacy skills such as critical assessment, argument and essay writing; numeracy skills such as the use of graphs and statistics; and ICT skills of research, analysis and presentation.
For students who love learning in the outdoors, be it in cities or the countryside, Geography A level is an obvious choice. During the Sixth Form course students take part in a four-day residential trip to the highly regarded Cranedale Field Study Centre in Yorkshire as well as a day trip to Winterton-on-Sea to examine the sand dune succession. Sixth Form students may also join our overseas trip in the summer to Iceland.
