As Geographers we expect all students to keep abreast of world news and to try to bring their own experiences from outside the classroom into lessons. Some good written resources (many of which are available online) to help them achieve this include:

  • Geography Review (we arrange subscriptions for this magazine which is written for A level Geographers)
  • Geographical
  • National Geographic
  • The Economist
  • New Scientist
  • Newspapers: The Times, The Guardian, The Independent and The Telegraph

Students are also encouraged to subscribe to and read the departmental blogs which are updated regularly:

Students can also keep up to date with what we think is important by following us on Twitter.

This is only the beginning. When students begin the Sixth Form we provide a departmental document “Ten Reading and Research Ideas for Prospective University Geographers” which provides useful ideas to get enthusiastic Geographers deeper into their subject.
