The Classics department keeps a healthy stock of materials for wider reading and we encourage students to broaden their horizons wherever possible. The school library also maintains an extensive collection of relevant and up to date publications that can be used to augment knowledge of the classical world.

We keep a collection of magazines including OMNIBUS, a publication targeted directly at A level students.

Many historical novels and popular histories can give a good introduction to life in the Classical age and these are frequently issued to complement the historical research that is required to provide context for a piece of work from any set author.

There is an excellent blog published by Peter Jones, recording his weekly ‘Ancient and Modern’ articles in The Spectator.  It raises much food for thought that students of Classical Civilisation can mull over.
