Chemistry
Chemistry is a popular and successful subject at The Perse with over 100 Sixth Form students studying the subject and around a third of our A level students deciding each year to continue with a scientific or mathematical subject at university level. There are seven Chemistry teachers, all of whom contribute to AS and A2 teaching. Each Sixth Form class is taught by two teachers, one teaching organic chemistry and some related topics whilst the other focuses on inorganic and physical chemistry topics.
For students joining the school in the Sixth Form, we have developed a ‘Surestart’ programme of computer-based tests that cover key GCSE topics that are built upon in the A level course.
Chemistry can be combined successfully with any combination of A level subjects. The study of chemistry develops many transferrable skills and employers value these highly.
