Competitions

We were delighted to see the success of our Sixth Form students in last year’s Chemistry Olympiad. We believe that our students achieved more medals in 2011 than any other school in the country and this included six Gold medals with the highest placed getting through to the final selection round. Our Lower Sixth students entered the C3L6 competition run by Cambridge University and four of our students achieved Gold awards whilst one came in the top 1% nationally and received a Roentgenium award.

Trips

We usually take our Lower Sixth students to the Cambridge University Laboratories in Lensfield Road to see all the analytical equipment, but in 2011 we were fortunate to welcome Andrew Thompson who presented “Spectroscopy in a Suitcase” which was funded by the Royal Society of Chemistry.
