The creative arts form a very important part of life at The Prep. In addition to the many opportunities for performance work within lessons such as English, Music and Drama, our pupils are given many chances to perform in public, both formally and informally.

Each year group takes part in a major production at least once a year. Pupils in Years 3 and 4 usually perform at the end of the Michaelmas Term as Christmas offers such wonderful opportunities for our younger pupils to be involved in music and drama.

In Year 5, performance opportunities include a Michaelmas Term School Concert and an evening of improvised dance which is the culmination of a day of dance workshops led by a specialist instructor.

In the Lent Term, Year 6 produce a full scale musical which forms part of their Music and Drama curriculum, and draws on all the theatre skills they have developed over their time with us.

Members of Centre Stage, our after school drama club, perform a pantomime at Christmas and a production later in the year, and there are numerous music groups ranging from choirs, to large instrumental groups as well as smaller ensembles.

Throughout the year there are many performance opportunities for these musicians, including Form Concerts , a Leavers Concert in the Summer Term, Friday Assemblies and our annual School Concert at the West Road Concert Hall in which all members of the school take part.
