Aim

The aim of the ICT department is to ensure that all the pupils have the ability to use IT tools and information sources effectively in order to analyse, process and present information.

In addition they should be able to use ICT to model, measure and control external events.

Approach

The curriculum is taught through a series of mini projects to give pupils the opportunity to use ICT in real life situations. The scheme of work is designed to cover:

Communicating information
Handling information
Controlling and monitoring
Modelling

What will my child study?

Year 3

Word processing, use of the internet and the school’s Intranet: share point, databases and manipulation of data, control technology

Year 4

Word processing combining text and graphics, spreadsheet modelling, animation, data collection and presentation

Year 5

Writing for different audiences, spreadsheet modelling, graphical modelling, multimedia presentation, controlling and monitoring

Year 6

Spreadsheet modelling, graphical modelling, multimedia presentation, email and the world, control technology, integrated project work
