Out of School Care
The school offers an extended day to qualifying pupils. Our full time children may use both Early Start and Late Stay and the Nursery pupils may participate in Early Start, once Mrs Sherrington-Scales feels that they have settled into their school routine.
The Government requires schools such as ours to comply with a series of national standards relating to out of school care. There are 14 of these standards and they range from Suitable Person, through Equipment and Equal Opportunities to Health and Safety. If you would like further information about the standards you will find it in a document entitled "Out of School Care: Guidance to the National Standards' which is available from OFSTED's website www.ofsted.gov.uk
The standards give us precise space and staffing ratios. The maximum number of children which we are able to accommodate in our school hall, in an out of school care situation, at any one time is 27. The ratio of adults to pupils must be 1:8.
Our Early Start facility is particularly popular. It is for this reason that we can only accept children whose parents have signed in for particular sessions and so you will need to ensure that you have ticked all the days you require on the booking form. Casual use of Early Start will only be possible if there are spaces available. This will need to be checked, in advance, with either Ms Sadlowski or Mrs Butler. This can be done via a telephone call or email, but please note that we cannot process either method before Early Start commences each day and so contact will have to reach us by 16.00 on the preceding day.
Staffing levels are set in advance according to the bookings we have taken. If children fail to turn up for a booked place then we still charge for the session, unless the child is away from school due to illness.
Parents can withdraw their child from a booking by contacting either Ms Sadlowski or Mrs Butler before 16:00 on the day preceding the booking
Please be assured that we will always help out in the case of a genuine emergency.
EARLY START
This facility operates from 8.00 until 8.45.
The charge is a fixed rate, regardless of the time of arrival and will be £4.00 per morning for the academic year 2007/08.
The children are supervised by the Nursery Nurses.
It will be assumed that the children will have had breakfast prior to their arrival at school.
LATE STAY
This facility is available until 17.30. The charges are fixed according to how long a child uses the facility and are as follows:
15.15 - 16.30 £7:50
15.15 - 17.30 £10.00
Late Stay will be supervised by one of the Nursery Nurses. Parents are asked to provide a drink (cartons only) and a snack for their children.
Parents are reminded that children should be collected promptly at 17.30
Attendance registers are kept so that the Bursar's office can invoice parents for the use of our Out of School Care Programme, termly, in arrears.
