Upper
Year 9 induction
Pupils entering Year 9 are invited to attend two induction days to help them settle into life at The Upper before the new term begins.
The first induction day is held in June, near the end of the Summer Term. The main aim of the afternoon is to assist in making the transition to The Perse as smooth as possible for new pupils and their parents. As well as receiving an introduction to life at The Upper, new pupils will spend time meeting their classmates (both new pupils and current Year 8 pupils) and their form tutors. During the afternoon, parents are given an introduction to life at the school, information about the extra-curricular opportunities on offer and the chance to meet their child’s new form tutors. The afternoon also acts as a time for new pupils and their parents to see samples of the school uniform.
Just before the start of the new school year, Year 9 pupils are invited to the school for their second induction day. After the long summer holiday, starting at a new school can feel a little daunting. As such, this induction day is designed to help pupils get to know the school and their new form. During the day they will complete some team building activities and some routine administration to ensure that all new pupils are enthused about the new school year and feeling more comfortable with their surroundings.
