Nursery induction

Our aim in the first term is to provide a smooth transition into our Nursery for the whole family. Children are settled into school life gradually, beginning with a New Parents’ Evening in June to introduce parents to life at The Perse.

During the first week of term the children visit the Nursery in small groups to have a two hour introductory session. Parents are encouraged to stay for the first session but once their child is happy and settled parents are welcome to depart. During this time, the children will begin to find out about each other, explore their new environment, become comfortable with our typical routines and begin to make new friends.

Reception induction

During the year we hope that all Reception children will have fun, enjoy themselves, makes lots of new friends, develop their own interests and enjoy the first stages of reading and writing. We ask Reception pupils and their families to keep a summer ‘scrapbook’ so that we can find out about each other’s summer excitement and adventures.

We aim to make the settling in process as simple and friendly as possible. On the first day of term the children come to school in two groups, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. This gives them the opportunity to become comfortable in their new surroundings whilst in a small group.  We ask Reception pupils and their families to keep a summer scrapbook so that they can talk about each other’s summer adventures.
