Joining The Perse

There are six key entry points to The Perse – Nursery, Reception, Year 3, Year 7, Year 9 and Sixth Form. It may sometimes be possible to admit pupils into other year groups and it is always worth contacting the school to check if a place is available.

The number of places available varies for each entry point and can alter each year. Approximate figures are given below:

  • Nursery – 32 pupils
  • Reception – up to 8 external applicants will join pupils progressing from Nursery
  • Year 3 – up to 30 external applicants will join pupils progressing from The Nursery and Pre-Prep
  • Year 7 -  up to 60 external applicants will join pupils progressing from The Prep
  • Year 9 – up to 60 external applicants will join pupils progressing from Year 8
  • Lower Sixth - up to 60 external applicants will join pupils progressing from Year 11

Applications

Before applying, we would encourage you to visit the school. We have Open Mornings in both the Michaelmas Term and the Summer Term and they provide an ideal opportunity to view our wonderful facilties and to meet our pupils and staff. You may also wish to have a tour of the school on a working day.

If you feel The Perse is the right school for your child, the next step is to apply for a place before the relevant deadline. Once we have received your application, we will (where appropriate) seek a confidential reference from your child's current school and invite them to take part in some form of assessment. The type of assessment varies depending on the entry point.

A small number of scholarships are available in Year 7, Year 9 and the Sixth Form to pupils of exceptional merit. These financial awards are normally worth 5% of the annual school fees.

We also offer means-tested financial assistance with fees from Year 3 upwards to those families who could not otherwise afford a Perse education. The level of assistance will vary in value from 5% to 100% of annual fees depending on the financial circumstances of the parents. Applicants applying for fee assistance are subject to the standard assessment criteria.

We hope you find all the information you are looking for but if not, please do not hesitate to contact us at admissions@perse.co.uk
